Jon Bader was born in London in 1964 and studied photography, film and television at Bournemouth & Poole College of Art from 1982-85. Whilst there he developed a love of Still Life and Food photography which he took with him to London when he graduated. He then worked as an assistant to the foremost food and still life photographers of the day for the next two years before taking on his own commissions.
In 1987 Jon traveled to Australia where, after traveling the country he settled in Sydney and began working in the Food and Still life photography scene. Over the next 7 years Jon worked primarily in the editorial market shooting over 50 cookbooks and countless magazine pages devoted to food, still life and the occasional portrait story.
In the early to mid 90’s Jon then turned his attention to the Advertising industry. Having picked up digital manipulation as one his skills through the emergence of desktop applications such as Photoshop and Live Picture, Jon was able to establish himself among a very early group of image makers who were embracing these new technologies. Jon went on to produce advertising campaigns for the likes of Toyota, Sony, OPSM, Palmolive, Canon, Nestle and many others.
Since then Jon has continued to work on conceptual advertising, food advertising and food packaging for a large range of clients from his own studio in Sydney. His current regular clients include Meat and Livestock Australia, Coca Cola, Dominos, McDonald’s, Woolworths, Nestle, Arnotts to mention a few. Jon has also produced a number of personal projects related to food and produce.
Jon’s work is characterised by a clean, modern edge with a fine attention to detail. He has years of experience and a natural feel for creating beautiful images with high impact.
